How To Up Your Skincare Routine This New Year

Natalie WIlson is back to give us her tips on how we can all up our skincare game this year!

After weeks of over-indulgence, the new year is the perfect time to refresh and rethink your skincare routine. Our skin goes through a lot during the winter months, and with so many different products to choose from, it’s easy to quickly become overwhelmed.

If you want to up your skincare routine this winter, then you need to know where to start. Transforming your skin from being dull and dry can take time and multiple products, so here are some tips for how you can refresh your skincare routine ready for the new year!

Update Your Cleanser

You will get better results from your daily skincare routine if you cleanse twice a day, both morning and evening, so changing from your go-to cleanser is an ideal way to switch things up. By doing this, you are helping your skin refresh throughout the day and are helping to get rid of any products left on your skin which may cause spot outbreaks or oily patches.

A big trend within the skincare world is products that are formulated with clay. Not only is clay a natural ingredient, but it also helps to cleanse impurities away from your skin without having a drying effect. Look for products that are enriched with moisturising and soothing elements, such as eucalyptus or charcoal.

Find A New Facial Moisturiser

As soon as you have washed your face, you should be applying a good facial moisturiser. Leaving skin bare for more than 30 seconds after washing or cleansing means that your skin will tighten and make it feel unpleasant. If you want a long-lasting dewy effect or if you want to lock in moisture for longer, then applying a quality moisturiser soon after will give you a much better skin complexion.

Look for a moisturiser which matches your skin type and smooth it over your skin post-cleansing. For mature skin, a moisturiser which is extra nourishing will provide you with better results.

Know When To Remove Your Makeup

This is a huge thing to get into the habit of if you haven’t already. With so many different types of makeup removers now available, it’s easier than ever to find something that is both gentle and effective on your skin. If you’ve upped your gym routine for the New Year, then you may find that your skin is suffering as a result.

If you think about how your workout trainers and gym apparel feel after a workout - damp, sweaty and just gross in general -  imagine how your skin is going to be affected. Your skin needs to breathe whilst sweating in order to maintain hydration levels, so bare skin is much better for your workouts. Afterwards, use a gentle foaming cleanser to get rid of the sweat barrier and use a toner and moisturising combination for refreshed and soft skin.

Micellar water and wipes are both effective, but there are other methods that will work to boost the overall health and appearance of your skin. Our cleanse-a-sonic device will transform your daily skin care routine into a whole new ritual.

Simply apply your facial cleanser of choice to the brush head and gently rub until foaming. Then press on and select your desired speed and use circular motions on your skin. Not only does it remove dead skin cells and leftover makeup residue, but leaves your skin feeling toned, cleansed and purified.
