Whichever skin type you have, you probably wish that it was different - those with oily would like something a little drier, those with dry would like a little more oil, and everybody would prefer to have what we refer to as a more normal skin type. But, whether we realise it our not, all skin types have their individual pros and cons, and today we are going to have a more in-depth look into the oilier skin type.
Oil can be the bane of one's life: it means we constantly check our faces for signs of shine, topping-up our powder, and are forever on the lookout for a newer and better mattifying moisturiser and foundation. But, and here's the good bit, oil is good when it comes to ageing. An oily skin will tend to age much better than a drier skin - looking fresher and more plump as we age. It is important to treat oily skin with a little bit of care - people often think that starving the skin of oil will cure the oil problem if you will, but stripping oil only causes the skin to try to over-compensate for the lack of oil, which means the skin's surface ends up extra oily. Many oily skins do not, in fact, realise that they actually also have dehydrated skin: again, dehydration leads to more oil being produced, again compensating for the dehydration.
Clarisonic - many think the Clarisonic is for exfoliation of the skin, but what it does best is sonically pulsing bristles of the brush on your face for a cleanse that is 6 times more effective than a manual cleanse. As all good things start with a deep cleanse, this is a wonderful investment.
Soap and Glory Peaches & Clean - a wonderfully refreshing, fruity cleanser. Smells of peaches, contains fruit acids to act as a chemical exfoliant, thereby smoothing and brightening the skin, and removing excess sebum in a gentle, luxurious way.
Clarins Exfoliating Toner - like the Peaches & Clean, another chemical exfoliant to be swept on after cleansing: refines the skin's textures, and is the most effective, and kindest way to exfoliate the skin.
skinChemists Bee Venom Facial Serum – a gel-serum that cools the skin upon contact, and helps to diminish scars and blemishes that oily skins can often acquire – the Manuka Honey acts as an antiseptic, and the Bee Venom stimulates repair of the skin. skinChemists Bee Venom Moisturiser – a light, but deeply hydrating moisturiser that nourishes the skin, but is not heavy and won’t exacerbate oily skin conditions.
skinChemists Bee Venom Repair and Protect - a targeted treatment for spots and blemishes containing Allantoin, known for its therapeutic action on skin tissue. It has been used for centuries in the folk medicine of many countries to promote wound healing.
skinChemists Bee Venom Facial Oil - Infused with bee venom and Manuka honey, this light oil moisturises and refreshes the skin, whilst plumping and helping with repair and brightening of the skin. Adding oil into the skin voluntarily reassures your skin that no more oil needs to be produced. Of course, additional Oil benefits include softening and moisturising of the skin.
